Picture from the past

Chances are you've either owned a Beetle or know someone who has. This is a photo of my dad with his 1973 Super Beetle "Sports Bug" taken in the late 70s - the first German car in the family. The "Sports Bug" edition featured blacked-out trim (note bumpers for example) Recaro seats, and a fatter steering wheel. Performance wise, it was just a standard 1300 Super Beetle and nothing more. They were all either yellow, or Marathon Blue (interestingly the same color as our 914 today) That being said, you'd be hard pressed to find a Sport today, approximately 5000 were made, though many bugs had some of Sport options added on.
